Buckled Split Rim - who can fix ?

Post by CosmosblueMR2 »

When I got my new rims from Japan I sent them to CSW wheels up in West Yorks because they have a heated roller press to straighten alloys.

I've managed to clip a curb on a roundabout and now my rear is a tiny bit buckled... does anyone know another company who can sort this out ?

CSW have handed over their wheel business to someone else and to say they are unhelpful is an understatement  (3 weeks now I've been trying to get more than "we'll call you back" out of them ](*,) )

the wheel does not look buckled on the car but moving you can see it wobble (saw it on the RR :? )

anyone know of ANYBODY ? - not wanting a full refurb - just this slight dink straightened out.

(they are being professionally polished when they are all straight by someone else)

EDIT - tried Fatt Wheels in Kent - they said they would "bash it with a hammer" - doesn't inspire me with confidence :?

HELP

I litterally deleted a number yesterday.
Try looking for a place called the "wheel hospital"
It's in Rochford Essex (nr Southend)

I saw the website too and saw nothing of refurbishing but I'm sure when I last went in there they advertised it.
I want to get mine done but not sure as knowing me I'll just kerb the bar stewards again.

Frank, Did you use the company in your above link to straighten your rims and if so how did it go?

Got my Kei Office wheels from the States yesterday and one of the rears has quite a bad flat spot ](*,) I suspect it was damaged by the carrier as the evidence is in the wrapping they came in and it's deffo been dropped  :(

If you kevin that would be great :thumleft:

I rang alloy wheel repairs.net this morning and they've quoted me £70 to straighten it which is tempting as i think i'll be waiting a very long time to find one replacement :(

UPDATE:

Got my rim back from Derek @ http://www.alloywheelrepairs.net/ today and was i amazed when i put it back on the balancer and span it ..... It's 100% round again  =D>

It was fubar'd - One of the rears arrived from the States with a HUGE flat spot, I swapped tyres over and took it for a spin to see just how bad it was. At 30mph you could feel it through the seats, I didn't bother taking past 80 cause at this speed it fealt like the car was being shook to bits

So if any one has a rare/discontinued/expensive wheel that's been damaged and they think is beyond repair it might be worth giving this chap a call :)

No thanks go to RB Motoring who charged me $220 insured delivery and then decided to ignore all my e-mails once i told them how one of them arrived and wanted to make a claim to cover the cost of repair [-X
