hi me and my friend have changed our headlight blubs with 100w off road ones.
there not legal you also have to change the fuses to a 20w instead of the 15w

80/100's in the headlamps for two years, no problems.
Very nice at night.

Dan, try some
+50% standard bulbs
- they'd give you as much light and they draw less power.
Autoexpress tested a load a while back, and Phillips Vision Plus came out top.
Last year, the Halfords
+50 bulbs came near top too
