why is my gear change such a biyatch!?

Post by Century Motorsport »

Hi i own a rev 3 turbo and always have a problem with the gear change on it when driving it hard. Its not that the gears crunch, its just impossible to do a 'fast' gear change. You almost have to feel it in. I did read about a problem on the 2's that the clutch pedal is too low to the floor as this can mean that the clutch isnt dis-engaging enough to allow for a smooth gear-change, but i dont think that thats my problem as when i had a knackered clutch and the biting point was high i still had the same problem. Having said that thou, with the new clutch in the biting point is only about 3/4inch off the ground!!

Thanks in advance,

Nathan

Clutch is hydraulic - bleed it if you think it is not releasing,

As for smoothness - consider alternative Oils??

Firstly i'd adjust the clutch pedal anyway.

Secondly, i've had more than just a couple of instances here where a change of seals in the slave and master cylinders has transformed the clutch action. Poor things are getting old!

The kits are only around £15 each.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've got it sorted now, adjusted the pedal - master cylinder rod up and the gear change is a dream compared to before!! I can change from second into first without having to stop now or feel like im gonna snap the gearstick off in the process!!!

Many thanks again,

Nathan
