Standard spark plug

Post by Jamitsi »

Hi,

could anybody tell me what stark plug did Toyota use as standard on the Rev 3 turbo??

i just had a look at mine today and its got Denso VK20 iridium plugs.
and just wanted to know if they had been changed before?
i thought i read somewhere that Toyota put platinum in the turbos, is this true?

thanks

yes, I think it's an NGK - BKR6EP-8 according to the NGK part finder.

Anyway, the "P" bit means platimun, and the 8 refers to the 0.8mm gap.

Hope this helps. Standard Toyota parts might not have been NGK, as Denso did all the electrics.

But NGK are decent kit. I used a copper plug in my rev3 turbo, 'cos I'm a cheap skate (BKR6-E instead) nice and cheap, £12 from Halfords. Platinums will be £12 each, but are meant to last loads longer.

The IK20's are a high performance plug and as such, are recommended to be changed @ 30K
