uprated intercoolers

Post by Century Motorsport »

Hi guys, its time now for more power!!! I am buying a pre mapped uni chip for my rev 3 turbo but to enable me to run this im going to be needing an uprated intercooler. Obviously the greddy is the most popular option but the guy who i am buying the uni chip from was running a spearco ic and i must say that it looks very sexy and appears to come w/ a fan too.

Has anyone had any experience with these? Which one would be better?

Secondly, does anyone know where i can get either from at a decent price? I know these are expensive units but there always seems to be someone who know a retailer who is a bit cheaper??

If anyone can help that would be great!!

Thanks,

Nathan

try www.turbohoses.com for the Spearco. They also do their own pipe kit though of course it will up the cost a bit.

£ vs $ is very good at the moment so you stand to gain depending on what Customs whack on...

Nathan,

You could purchase the Greddy intercooler <£600 new, and mount a 7" SPAL fan (£60) onto that as a few members on here have done.

The Spearco IC kit for the MR2 is better than the GReddy IC kit for the MR2.

The question is, is it better enough to justify the extra $$$

I always ran the GReddy IC until I went to my custom IC set up.

The thing thats good about the Spearco is the fact there's little loss of boost between turbo and inlet I'm told.
If you can afford it I'd go for it, it's better designed too.
I'd also get the uni-chip mapped again.

i've got a greddy intercooler on mine, and never had any problems and always very nice and low intake temps.

But i am running an 11" spal fan on there with custom shroud. (us boards said it can't be done) lol

I've also got a co2 sprayer on there wired up to my own controller that turns on and pulses the co2 bursts once above a certain temp and keeps going until its below a set limit.
