Hello from Norwich

Post by King Stromba »

Hi, just bought a Mk1 MR2.

Great cars. Goes well next to my Clio Williams. Just as much fun.

Hope to frequent this site alot in the future.

Anyone know the weight of the MK1b teardrop alloys?

Car is a red MK1b, and i live in Colney. If you fancy a get together in Norwich im not far from you.

Was just wondering as the offset on a clio williams speedline in ET36 and the wheels are one of the best you will find. They were originally designed as a FIA approved competition alloy. They only weigh 7 kg's and are incredibly strong.

Owning two clio williams i have plenty knocking about. They are 15 inches but with a 195 50 tyre the rolling circumferance would be similar.

Are the MR2 teardrop wheels meant to be painted or polished alloy? Anyone got any close ups of some nice examples of the teardrops?

Thanks for the welcome. The car has a few bits of rust on it, but non on the arches or underside. Looks great for a 18 year old car. Love the gearbox

I have a set of 205/50 - 15s and they give the same speedo reading as my teradrop ones, so you should be OK with that

AFAIK all UK spec cars had painted alloys. Some JDM and US spec ones had 'diamond cut' alloys which looked polished.

Does anyone have a pic of polished alloys? Or can direct me to one?

Have a furtle around www.mr2.com - I think there are some pics of cars with the shiny alloys on there.

There's usually an MR2 meet starting from "Pets at Home" car park just off the ring road once a month or so. It's mostly mk2's but there's a couple of mk1s show up. Keep an eye on the 'Events' forum for details of the next meet.
