I recently returned my front calipers.

The only thing I didn't replace where the guide pins as they didn't come in the bigg red kit.

But I am going to order them as the bottom pin

(with washer) on both was quite pitted and rusted.

I cleaned it up before reusing.

However I noticed the channel in the carrier of the lower pin

(both sides) were also pitted.

I used white vinegar as a rust remover but that doesn't leave the walls smooth obviously.

While the brakes are no longer binding, the caliepr doesn't move as freely as I think it should and I think they are touching slightly still.

Will the new pins sort this or are the carrier channels shot and what can I do about them.

I imagine I can't drill them at all as the tolerances are probably right I'm assuming.

Thanks for any input.
