3s-GTE âputt puttâ sound
So I notice when at low speeds with low revs in 4th / 5th gear I notice what I can only describe as a âput put' sound from the air filter area.
Is this normal?

No it's not that, I know that sound.
It's like the engine is coughing.

Re: 3s-GTE ‘putt putt’ sound
It's a generic stainless steel mesh cone filter.
Re: 3s-GTE ‘putt putt’ sound
Is it stuttering/misfiring too? My first thought would be water in the spark plug chambers (if that's what they're called )
Re: 3s-GTE ‘putt putt’ sound
Are you sure it's not a leak from the exhaust manifold or turbo gasket? A slightly loose manifold or a small blow on the gasket can cause a slightly whispy put-put sound.

Its not misfiring as it pulls very strongly, but in 4th and 5th gear it doesn't like trying to cruise or pull way at lower revs 40 to 50mph.
I've changed the plugs, and lambda sensor.

It's not all the time, just 4th and 5th gear. Sometimes on startup it does a small put put but.
I've just refit the stock exhaust with all new gaskets and VHT silicon sealant.

Under power, well I say that but more like half throttle if that makes a difference.

Re: 3s-GTE ‘putt putt’ sound
Hi
could it be injectors / fuel filter at all?
maybe some injector cleaner additive, (not sure what the general feeling is on that)
One of my company dailys was hesitate as i recall while driving put in some "additive" in my local garage sold me, it worked

Injector/ fuel system cleaner been done.
Don't think it's a fuel filter issue.
