Hi
ok chaps how do you look after your nuts?
Ive had cheapies expensive & they all suffer when putting them on & off
best way ive found so far is to wrap them in masking tape tighten up and remove the tape
Ive never found a wheel socket with a teflon lining, which i thought would work?
how do you folks take your nice sparkly shiny coloured nuts on & off without marking them.......oo err missues
Brian

Re: [All] [Generic] Wheel nuts not marking with socket
I have just bought some Rota wheels and they came with "tuner nuts".
The outside of the nut is smooth and round and the inside is like a torx bit. You need a special socket to tighten and remove but the alloy socket so far has not hurt the black paint on the nut.
This has the added advantage that the socket does not scuff the wheel around the holes either.
This is the kind of thing...

Hi
Yeah thought about going to tuner nuts, we had them on the sparcos in the garage, but our nuts & tool!!! (pardon the expression) where worn
I will look into it as you say no chance of damaging outside, i wia just wondering some of the "socket" nuts ive seen around how people manage not to mark them
Cheers for the suggestion
regards brian

Common problem, a member on here had one of his (for Sparco NS2's) get stuck on, and the nut deformed and also deformed the splines on the tool. Not good!
Best value nuts are the Driftworks own brand steel ones IMO.

Hi
had a look on drfit works
their own brand of normal "socket" nuts, have you had experience as to how well the powder coating stands up to using a socket?
cheers

Re: [All] [Generic] Wheel nuts not marking with socket
I have the external splined ones, they have a bit of damage / rust on them now. They are about 3 years old and have covered ~80,000 miles or so in all weather.

They still clean up OK. If I wanted them to be perfect I'd have no issue dropping another £32 on them to replace them every few years!
