Hi guys, I'm new to the forum,
I've had a rev 5 N/A mr2 in the past and I'm looking o buy a rev 3 turbo onwards
I've seen a couple of eBay. Apparently one of them belonged to someone on here?
Here's the eBay numbers

142383081439
Could you let me know which you think is bettee and if you think the pricing is right?
Thanks

Re: Hi new to the forum, cars on eBay advice
If i had to pick then i would go for the red one AFTER confirming with Peter Gidden of SBits (MR2 specialist) that hes carried out all work on it and when he last worked on it. The only thing that screams at me is BRADFORD LOL
1st one, the rust has started to set in on it by the sounds of it.

HA HA Bradford strikes again!
Re: Hi new to the forum, cars on eBay advice
Thanks for the replies. Yeah the red one turns out. He's bought the car a couple of months ago, taken off rev6 rear lights, rev 5 spoiler, berk exhaust and rev 5 wheels and sold them, replaced them with rev 3 parts and then trying to sell on for more than he originally bought it, basically after a good pay day, don't think he appreciated that I managed to find all that out
The grey one, he's been more than helpful and I like the spec with the traction control and abs, although it's got some rust it's nothing I can't fix up, mileage is also a lot less
Looking at the grey one tomorrow so hopefully it will be ok
Thanks again

I think that seller is on here from time to time. if it's the guy I think it is then he seems pretty sound.

He doesn't seem to bad to be fair, he's answered the questions I've asked but had to force his hand at admitting he was a dealer and wasn't the original owner, just a pity he's stripped it of all the bits that id of liked to of kept on

Nothing wrong with that in itself, cars generally have a wider appeal if they're visually standard as aftermarket gubbins is very much in the eye of the beholder. I guess the best thing really would be to judge the car on its current merits and value given its condition and the asking price, irrespective of past sale values.

I've chose the grey one in the end, he drove it up from London to me so that in itself was positive that the car was ok, well I hope it means that,
I'm happy with the purchase. Got a few jobs to do but that's good for me as it gives me something to do

Re: Hi new to the forum, cars on eBay advice
I think you made a good choice.
I almost bought it a few weeks back. We disagreed on the price. The rust scared me.
But the guy was very helpful and answered all my questions. Id be interested to see how you go about getting the rust sorted, especially on the A pillar. If you wouldn't mind keep this updated?

Of course, the rust really isn't as bad as it sounds, it's quite a small patch so it won't be difficult, the roof and the a pillar can be treated filled and painted, the door either needs a new door or i can get the rust cut out and a new section welded in which I was quoted £150 unpainted
