Can you start classing a 1990 Mr2 as a classic?
My car is now 27 years old 3 more and its 30!!! Surely we can start calling it a classic car when it gets to 30... let me re-word that... if it gets to 30 years old

I was always under the impression that 25 years was seen as a classic car. Although I'm not sure if that was just how the DVLA classed it as you never had to pay road tax on a car over 25 years old as was seen as a classic.
So theoretically yours may have already made it

My '94 Turbo is insured as a modern classic

I think most 90's Japanese cars like the mr2 are considered modern classics.

I have been insuring MK2 MR2 as classics for about the last ten years. Definitely the MK1 and 2 are classics.

Depends what definition you are looking for..
e.g. Some insurance companies class them under classic when they are over 15/20 years old. Road tax, doubt they will ever be exempt as I believe they stopped the rolling 40year thing.

Hi,
Just to let you know that we have schemes that would cater for this vehicle as a classic car.
Regards,
Dan.

I'm sure I read somewhere that cars are road tax exempt after 40 years

seems that 20 years is enough for many insurance companies. however just because there is a classic policy doesn't mean it offers the cover you might be looking for. check before you buy.

My '92 is insured on a classic policy with Footman James - costs around £160/year on a limited mileage policy. That's for a turbo with declared mods (decat etc).
