How much of a difference in throw is there between this and a rev 3 shifter? Aren't they similar?

My understanding is that it's a shorter throw than any 'standard' shifter but I've personally never compared it to anything other my rev1… and it's a much much shorter throw than that.

I've always assumed TRD (Toyota RACING Developments after all) designed the quickest system possible.
