reduce drone on motorway
I love the exhaust set up on my rev2, its loud as hell which is fine local but on the motorway I feel almost suicidal. Any way to lessen the drone?

😂😂 the sort of reply i expected lool
Re: reduce drone on motorway
yeah, ditch the crap exhaust.
Back box will be the issue, change that. Get a custom one made, that way you get the style you want and the sound you are after.
Off the shelf there isn't much about anymore. The japspeed is stupidly loud so no fun on longer drives.
HKS silent power is a quiet one but discontinued.
Drive faster? above 90 they don't drone

I've found above 80 it's great, 90-95 still quite and it's quite common I have a flame or two if I lift lol
Going down the route of introducing a active valve at some point.

Don't know where it comes from that the japspeed is stupidly loud. I have one on my Rev 3 turbo with a berk decat.
It's on a par with my old mongoose exhaust.
Didn't bug me once on the 1600 mile round trip over the Pyrenees this year.

Watched 2 fail a static sound test on a track day last year, the guys were gutted. They spent half the day fabbing up bungs just to get on track.
Sounded great at full chat but way too loud for a daily, would drive me mental.
Maybe I'm just getting too old to enjoy mopping the blood out of my ears after a motorway journey.

Come on craig it is bloody loud.... more so than the mongoose (I had both cars at the same time on my drive, one japspeed 1 mongoose) I thought JS louder.
IMHO of course.
Very droney. Driving back from barnsley by 5am I was shouting SHUUUTTTT UUUUUPPPPPPPPPP as going crazy with boom.
BUT I love it as a fun car exhaust.

Normal HKS Hi-Power is still available and is on the more quiet end of whats available, but costs actual money unlike a japspeed which is just a badly made copy of an old greddy exhaust.
Either that or again spend some actual money on a custom design or a Fujitsubo Legalis R from japan. Bonus is that your car wont sound like a horrible farty mess that most people will hate like the crapspeed.

i have had three seperate versions over the years, (one brand new) and i totally agree, sounds not to bad but never got how some people say they are loud
For the money you can't go wrong Imo
Saying that, mot time i remember the walls vibrating in the waiting room , i have never been good at hearing things with background noise behind me
Re: reduce drone on motorway
Buy the HKS Hi Power I have in the for sale section. Sorted.

Correct, this is what i do in lane 1. You can relax and listen to the radio.
At 60mph you're saving fuel as well.
