Caldina Swap

Post by speedygonzales »

Hi There
Im having a Problem on my Gen 4 swap.
I changed the Timing Belt and the Waterpump befor the swap.
After installing the engine it did not start. We found out that the timing Belt was fittet wrong,we used the wrong marking. But no since of Broken Valves.
We put a new Timing belt on with correct timing, now the engine starts, but the Manifold gets Very very hot in 3 min.
the first two Spark plugs(from Transmission side) are Black, but not wet,the other two look alright. The spark plugs are new !
I run the fuel pump constant! I made a commpression test, all 4 chambers have equal commpression, but the Fourth one looses his kommpression slowly. could it be because timing is wrong and the outlet valves open slightly to early?
The cat is Brand new from Primeperformance USA.
can anybody tell me please what to look for?
Thank you

Double and tripple check the timing again, could be out by a tooth or 2.

Might want to check the ecu for faults. OBD2 so not so hard.

maybe the injectors are partly blocked?

How have you done the fuel feed? did you keep the damper or not?
Are you using the stock fuel pressure regulator?

Could be lots of things, but that's a good start.

Stock gen 4 turbo?

First make sure your timing is spot on.

Then the basics:

When did you last change the air filter?

What grade plugs have you used, on my Gen 4 I run iridium 9's, consider going for a colder grade of plug.

Like BKR7EIX or BR9HIX or BKR5EIX etc etc. Even then there are sub numbers.

Sooo many different ones, lost in the maze of it all.
