Has anyone had difficultly getting their Mr2 on a 2post lift?

Post by Mr2Owner »

Tried lifting my Mr2 on a friends 2 post lift but the wheelbase is too short for the lifting arms, if we set the arms under the front jacking point of the cills then the rears won't line up and vice versa. The lifting arms are too long, we had the arms retracted fully but they're still too long. The wheel base needs to be longer with the jacking points further apart to get it onto this lift or else the lift arms need to be shorter.

Is there anywhere else we could put the lifting arm under the car apart from the cill jacking points? Has anyone came across this issue before?

Put jacking arms on front mounts lift slightly and use a trolly jack under the rear beam then put the rear arms under the rear jacking points . Have to do it every time😆

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say the "front mounts"?

I was thinking that's what you meant. I don't think you get what the problem is though, do you think the problem is that the car is too low and I can't get the arms under it. Thats not the case, the problem is that the lift arms can't be placed under the cill jack points at the same time because the arms are too long. If i put the arm under the rear cill point, then the front arm is too long and doesn't line up with the front jacking point. If we roll the car backwards or forwards and get the front jack point on the lift arm then the rear doesn't line up because the lift arm is too long and is in too far beyond the jack point.

Basically the arms on the lift are too long, or the cars wheel base is too short bewteen the cill jacking points if that makes sense.

I'm confused, So how does doing what you suggest help with that?

By putting the lift arms on the front jacking points first, then lifting the car slightly, and then jacking up the rear in the centre with a trolley jack, why will the lift arms suddenly then fit onto the rear jacking points?

I put them further under than the sills at the rear it's not hard to work out

I get you now. That's what I asked in the first post, is there somewhere else to put the lift arms other than the cill jack points. Obviously you're not putting the arms on the cill points then.

I'm just wondering where you are putting them, I assume theres a decent strong point in further. Ill try your method and see what I can put the rear arms on.

They fit on my 2 poster no problem :thumleft:

Put the rear arms on the mount where the trailing arms bolt to instead of the sill.
