I'd also like to know that... and is it a job from underneath the car? or can you get to it through the engine bay?

Takes about 15-20 minutes easily reached through engine bay

you can do it from above or below (or both, some parts are easier from the top and vice versa) it'll take about half an hour start to finish

you can get delrin bushes from here

https://www.facebook.com/Brooks.Racing.Dev/home - they're £26 delivered.

I've actually recently bought some to replace the usual 'skateboard wheel bearing' kit that's on mine at the min, I'm sure it's half the reason my shift is a bit notchy on fast changes.

You can also get spherical bearings supposed to skate bearings

https://twosrus.com/catalog/product_inf ... cts_id=949

although shipping from twosrus is a an absolute ripoff

That would have been my preferred method tbh, you can get them from Japan too, but they're really expensive for what they are, which is just a couple of 5/16ths spherical bearings that cost a few quid each and a simple top hat sleeve that they're pressed into to fit the ID of the cable ends, I wish I had space for a lathe at home so I could just make them myself now. probably something I'll end up making next time I'm at sea.

will report back as soon as I've fitted the delrin bushes to see how they fare against the skate bearings

All too often I find myself saying this, one day

any instructions on how to do this from the top of the engine bay? - definitely think my car can benefit from this and I have some leave coming up so might as well give it a shot 8)

lots can be done to improve shifting

in no particular order

correct clutch pedal adjustment
clutch clevis upgrade
polybushing the shifter bushes
solid gear shifter bushes (4 that hold the shifter plate to the tunnel)
new or rotated shifter "cube"
renew shifter spring
quality gearbox oil
