This is the pile of parts I need to have fitted before mapping and the bits I done yesterday:

First thing was to remove the remainder of the arms that won't be used, anti roll bars etc and this was how the car was sitting after I had done that:

Spent a few hours trying to fab up some brackets to mount Spal fans to radiator, almost taking my thumb off, TWICE in the process #-o
I used 3mm steel as I didn't have any aluminium lying around but it works for now til I decide on how to go about a custom shroud, this is the steel I used and a couple of shots of fans mounted:

Before I done the coolant for a 2ND TIME!.. I decided to fit a water temp sensor I realised I had lying around, to do that I had to take the intake off, checked the turbo while I was at all, all nice and strong, no shaft play side to side or in/out, well chuffed, and some awesome pics of the ports for you lot:

More updates soon again as I need to get some more done :thumleft:

Mostly preparation done on Saturday, stripped out most of the interior so I can get my new harnesses in, marked out and drilled all the points, just waiting on the fixings, will be putting my recaros in with the intention of getting fixed buckets at a later stage

Image

Image

Difference between stock seat and Recaro, not much apart from Recaro being a bit bulkier, probably millimetres in height difference

Image

New headlights fitted, unfortunately one of the ballasts is gubbed so that will need changed #-o

So making good progress, 30hours out of 48 worked between Friday and Saturday, another busy weekend ahead again :eye:

You can get SPAL fan mounting kits from Demon Tweaks for reference.

Considered a few different ones, it was more of an excuse to test my fabricating skills before I attempt a shroud

Yeah I hope so too although I think summer is already over #-o

So first order of business at the weekend was changing the perished driveshaft cv boot, simple enough:

Image

Image

Then I moved onto getting the lower arms, anti roll bars, drop links, hubs, new discs and porterfield pads and calipers back on, I didn't have the caliper screw tool for rear Pistons so improvised but never again without the correct tool [-(

Once all that was done I changed the brake lines to my new Goodridge braided lines, unfortunately nothing goes to plan, one of the stock lines were jammed in, had it out within a couple of hours however needed to file down the edge slightly as it had been pressed out too far to get new line on, here is OLD vs NEW:

Image

Image

Once that was done I quickly got the 6 point harness eyes all bolted in then seats and harnesses in along with the steering wheel and TRD gear knob from my old 2:

Then wheels back on and ready for a test drive:

Let the car heat up for 10mins or so, then disaster struck or so I thought, heard a whine then a pop, checked the engine bay and the downpipe was sitting loose:

Image

Image

Image

The downpipe had broken loose off the vband joint so off came the downpipe and clamp:

Luckily we have one of the best tig welded in the business on our premises so got him to do a decent repair:

Ordered a new gasket for dp to flexi then I can get it refit then test drive it to make sure all is 100%

Yeah sure, it was this one I got:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321217535953

Important part is it has the fire protection ring so it doesn't let any flammage out the bottom, bare in mind this is for 3" so if you need a different size just ask the seller :thumleft:

Unfortunately been in hospital for 17 out of the last 20 days so have managed to do nothing to the car, got the car on a friends stand at a show coming up this weekend and it's not going to be in the condition I want it to be for that
But health comes first, I'll be happy to give the car a polish and make the show if the weather is good enough.

On a more positive note my new GoPro hero 3+ arrived
Still need to figure out how to work it though

Got some new wheels, WORK EQUIPS after long searching

Image

Tried them on to see the difference:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Think they look really nice and blends better than the Image EV2 wheels, the fronts are 7.5 et22 so are a perfect fit for flushness as can be seen, the tears are 8j et43 so are quite far in, this can easily be fixed with a spacer and extended wheel studs which I have but I'd rather avoid spacers if possible, so I've set upon searching for extended lips which is proving difficult
An extra 1 inch on lips would see it sit close enough to the arch and take it upto 9j which would be wide enough for my semi slicks all round :D
Once I find lips then all lips will be mirror polished but unsure of colour to go for with the wheels.. Initially though a gloss bronze/gold centres but I like the current colour they are, also crossed my mind to match them to the blue of strut brace ends, also anthracite could be an option :-k

If anyone can help with sourcing lips for these or good at Photoshopping colours onto the centres of the wheels I'd appreciate it
