I should say I am not going to be going for big power with my 2, just wanting to make if efficient (plus I'm a bit of a geek so find these things very interesting!)

Don't think there is any doubt that the uprated coolers are better than the standard, I am just interested to see how much better.

I've found some flow numbers, not sure how reliable they are.
They are from a PP cooler for sale ad on MR2.com

Stock Intercooler: 172 CFM
ST 185 RC air to water Intercooler: 230 CFM
Greddy: 253 CFM
Spearco: 320 CFM
Garage Fukui/A'PEXi/Phoenix Power IC: 387 CFM

http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/83329 ... kit-(RARE)

Looking at pictures of the Greddy and it's copies the first thing I noticed is that the pressure tubes have a curved external edges on the Greddy. This will obviously make a difference to the air flowing through it helping to direct the air through the fins rather than it hitting a flat wall as with other coolers. I have also found some pictures on the Greddy site of their other coolers showing fins inside the pressure tubes, not sure what the cheaper coolers have. More surface area = more heat transfer, but just sticking fins in isn't as efficient for flow, they need to be well designed (which I imagine the Greddy ones are).

Ok worms are all over the shop on this thread ... if you run a side mount run 50/50 water/meth , a boost in performance , no heat soak drop in performance .. win win :thumleft:

Just make sure you're compression ratio is over 10:1, otherwise it'll drive like a diesel :thumleft:

Benfacer you should buy the Greddy SMIC - that's my Ebay ad

It's banter...a reference to some of the great, unresolved IMOC debates...

- Does water injection work/ how does it work
- Should you lower your compression ratio to run more boost
- Is a v6 better than a modified turbo

All have produced large cans of worms when discussed on here over the years :clown:

Ha ha .. yeah bit of a private joke , sorry ... as ash said opens big big cans of worms on this site .

Me i ran an ebay xs power cooler and hardpipe kit plus 0.7mm jet single stage water/meth kit ... lowest temp on my air charge tem gauge 18c ... made a vid and worms hit the fan lol ..

I know it picks up hp ... why well get ready for more worms ... 17 pages and we were still discussing why ? ... bottom line IT WORKS :thumleft:

Lol I get that ash, but I think the post is about max air flow - surely that's not a unsolvable mystery? The PP core is about 30% bigger than greddy iirc so should have a higher flow rate and maximum cooling power I'd assume?

I did have a feeling this would open a can of worms! That's why I was trying to concentrate on finding numbers or tangible differences (like fins in pressure tubes)

I would love to CalMac but just bought a exhaust so going to have to stop spending for a couple of months!
