For those that know or have tried and tested,
What is the rev limit of a 5sfe crank when the big ends are turned down for 3 sgte rods?
What material is the 5sfe crank made from?

As long as it is properly balanced, they can rev out the same as the 3S cranks- not sure what the limit is! But obviously, the higher you rev it the more often you'll need to replace service components such as big end bearings, etc...

I think the yanks rate to around 900bhp.

Thanks,
Ash,
I was also worried about it buckling or going out of true when it gets machined.
4mm is a lot to remove from each big end journal.
Androo007,
Yanks eh! I only need 450 max lol.
My dilema at the moment is do I build a full 5sgte or use the 5s block and 3s crank to make a big bore 3s as the 3s crank is steel.

If you're worried about it, you can get custom rods that fit the 5S crank out of the box

Untill I get a sponsor or win the lottery I'm going to stick with big ends at £40.00 a pop from Gosnay's!
