TE37 MR2s

Post by mr2nut123 »

I'm looking for some TE37 style alloys. So far I've found that the Rota Grids and JAPAN RACING JR3s are very similar. Anyone had any experience of these, and do they fit the MK2s?

Also, is it right that the MK2s PCD is 114?

Would these fit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-Rota-Grid ... SwwbdWQaCp

MR2 PCD is 5x114.3
Center Bore is 60.1mm

Ideal sizes for the MR2 is:

17x8 front ET35-ET38
17x9 rear ET35-ET38

The lower the offset on the rear, the more chance of requiring the arches rolled.

You'll struggle to get a 17x8.5 ET30 (As per your ebay ad) on the front of a MK2.

Anything bigger than 60.1 CB and you'll require spigot rings to centralise the wheel onto the hub.

Ah ok, cheers Red :thumleft:

I wouldn't mind having 16" wheels if it meant I could get some alloys that looked like the TE37s. I've always loved those style in a deep or matte bronze.

No problem mate :thumleft:

As Draven said, 16s are better to have than 17s, but tyres are easier to get hold of for 17s.

The car in question would be a TOMs car if I did get another, would that allow more room with the kit, or is it the top of the arch that's the problem?

It's the arches and strut clearance mate. Tom's kit will have no bearing other than making wheels look smaller than ones that would normally look ok on a stock MR2, i.e. 16s

Ah ok. IT is my thing and it's been a while since I've had one of these

Inovit ST16 looks like the winner! Hope they fit

It doesn't look like the Innovit wheels will fit tbh, unless you run a square set of 17x7.5 all round which isn't ideal.

You could go crazy and run 17 fronts with 18 rear though, double staggered - 18's are a bit big for MR2 imo.

I haven't found getting tyres for 16's is too bad, managed to pick up some AD08R's in the right sizes but they are quite pricey. Check out Camskill for tyres :thumleft:

Very good heads up. Did a quick search on these and it would appear they know the MR2 community very well. I'll keep you posted. 8)

Totally agree about the genuine article. However, TE37s are not readily available second hand, even more so in the perfect MR2 fitments.

Plus, a brand new set of TE37s with no tyres would be into the thousands.

I was looking for TE37s as I love them, but couldn't find any, so settled for staggered 17" Enkei RP01 instead
