i did have slight concerns over it being watertight, but given the lip in the hole theres not alot else i can put over it.
if it was a regular hole, something like that would work.

i did get a couple of new grommets, but nothing thats big enough to fit over the harness unless i cut up the grommet.
but cutting that up will just bring me back to something ni on the same as the vac hose idea.

looks very neat Jim, if i were you I'd cut the std grommet so it was a very tight fit over the new loom then sikaflex it to the loom to keep it watertight

i did try, but cutting it leaves quite harsh edges, which the vac hose gets rid of.
perhaps i can try harder, ha.

the stock grommet with built in sleeve is also now too narrow which is annoying.

ill see how i do, its a fair weather car anyways

Not entirely sure.
I can only find a 12.49 on here.
Believe someone ran a 12.15 with 150 shot of nitrous. But no slip anywhere.
Someone ran a 12.37 in the U.S with slicks

I'm sure someone been in the high 11s but on e85 in the U.S, fully built, tuned, 2bar of boost and slicks etc.
I won't be hunting down the 11s, as don't have access to race fuel or be mad enough to run 2bar of boost!

Little more progress on the wire tuck.
But have other changes in mind now I've been made aware of the coil and ht lead being bad being close to the ecu (without shielding).

I've also removed my charcoal canister hardlines at the firewall and looped a hose for now.

Wanted to see if the car would start, ha.

Thankfully all is well.

I will be going further with a few areas. Relocating and running a new expansion tank. Reroute the lid catch cable.
Plus few bits more in due course.
Keen eyes will spot lots of little items removed before I took the tuck on as posted on previous pages.

As far as the grommet goes, I tweaked the Oem one, seems to work well.
Though not water right at the mo.

Also my auber air temp gauge turned up, it looks sweet!!

Canister hardlines looped at the fuel filter

Found my old Phoenix's Power HT lead which seemed to do the job for now

Well few more updates, but everytime I get something out and look in the bay I see even more things to remove or reroute!

Decided to strip down the engine harness, reroute a few sensors, also remove all wiring all the way up to the ecu/body/fuse box connectors from plugs/wires now longer in use!
Ie now no longer have tvsv, a/c idle up, cat temp, a/c, canister wiring in the harness at all.

The fan wiring, ait sensor wiring, also the mass of wiring for the diag port are also getting moved. I'm going to route the former over the arches now and the diag/map sensor ive pulled through all the wiring in the loom, and extended where needed so i can place the whole lot in the boot!
bit of a mission as involved stripping the whole harness!

i was surprised the amount of ground wires and other feed wires spliced into each other in the oem loom, ive stripped alot of these down now to keep things more simple.

Image

Image

Image

current state, youll note all the wiring on the lower right is the new location of diag/map sensor wiring which will now fit in the boot, it used to live on the far left of the loom.

Image

used to live here in the bay....
Image

There is a fair bit of wiring for the abs loom drivers side, so will also go over the arch now.
As well as my boost hose to the cabin (into boot, over arch, into cabin).

abs loom now no longer in the bay

Image
Image

pulled all this out
Image

I have plans to route fuel lines also now over the passenger side arch and into the boot, along with placing my FPR in the boot now as well.

I've also rerouted the engine lid cable over the arch.

cable routes passenger side as standard
Image

Expansion tank also removed and into the boot.

Though with things progressing, all those ground wires from engine to chassis, chassis to inspection panels, etc are showing now.
I need to try and move these to a more hidden location.

bit more progress

*Fully reworked engine harness; removed every unneeded wire/connector including the fan control ecu. Diag and map sensor rewired into the boot
*FPR, fuel return line and expansion tank in the boot
*Air temp sensor, ABS wiring, boost line rerouted to the inner archs
*removed and now no ports for pcv, idle valve and sensor for the custom air filter
*Body harness also over the inner arch
*Charcoal canister and its hardlines, a/c, iscv coolant lines, tvsv bits, engine mount plate, engine hook removed along with the catchcan support and dump valve hardpipes
*Rerouted coil pack and ignitor
*Aerial and loom plus rear speaker wiring gone
*Rerouted engine lid cable

I have a few more ideas, but just want to drive it now once I clean up the odd w/i and engine lid fan wires/relays

cleaned up starter
Image

new location for boost hose, cabin to boot wiring, ABS wiring and engine lid cable
Image

cable into the bay
Image

new custom fuel rail line
Image

new location for fuel pressure reg return line and air temp sensor (over arch and back into the bay along with the body harness)
Image

thought i had a dead cluster, so replaced capacitors, but turns out id wired tacho wrong from the fuse box
Image

getting bare, but still dirty, ha
new location for coil and igniter on extended wiring
Image

fuel pressure reg new location along with the diag port and map sensor
Image

new harness configuration after countless testing and wire extensions
Image

car up and running!
Image

new sparse drivers area, no more diag/map sensor, and only wiring for the o2 sensor coming out the cover now (in addition to no more wiring for a/c, fan, cat temp)
Image

dirty still!
Image

current boot configuration
Image

Image

still some hosing to sort

Extremely impressed at yanking out a harness and remembering where it all went. My absolute nightmare so congratulations on the big balls!

Thought about losing the green silicone to black? Would look SO much tidier.

Cheers for comments

I used to have black hoses, the bay ended up just looking dull and boring, so idea was to match my green dials/gauges and green tein equipment (strut braces, coilovers).

Looks better in the flesh in daylight than a dim lamp at night granted.
But I just wanted something a little different to the norm.

More progress

Pretty much done with the wire tuck. I had considered cutting the boot mat to 'show' the relocation, but after tweaking the location of the FPR, unbolting the map sensor/diag port from the firewall, I just about had enough room to not cut the mat at all and cover everything!!

Misplaced a couple of the mat clips, so a bit rough around the edges, but opening the boot you'd have no idea the oem expansion tank, a FPR and fuel lines were behind it!
The fuse box and ecu create a bit of a bump, but was unavoidable.
Pretty happy with it really!!

Also got round to installing my auber intake temp gauge. Sensor only roughly bolted for now, but everything working well!!
Intake temps aren't going above 25c on boost, and this is with the sensor inside the inlet manifold.
Was a cold wet day granted.
Cruise was showing about 7-9c above ambient. (Ambient was 8-9c, which was showing on the gauge before starting).

A dry weather and more mental boosting session will hopefully give me a better idea of temps.
