Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Hi all. Just wondering if we could gather our knowledge and find out what rpm the blitz exhaust pops at mostly?
I've just fitted it on my Rev 1 turbo and wanting to find out the best way to get flames and make the most out of it for performance. Running stock engine and turbo.
Kurk
If you really want pops, bangs and flames then you should do a hard acceleration pull, bash the limiter in 4th then quickly drop it into 2nd and pop the clutch *its pretty much guaranteed you will drive over your crank too.... But your mates down the local retail park with think it's "sick"

Mine sounds like ISIS have come to town... I completely put a stop to about 50 kids Carol singing in the town center the other week ... Defo needs a tweak to the mapping
My hks exhaust can light up the back of the car at night, just keep a steady throttle through a corner and then booting it out of the corner is usualy enough.
In reply to 2mad, I've just purchased the omex clubman launch control and rev limiter. Thanks though!
And I guess it just takes time to find out where the car revs best for pops, been playing about.
Do these cars pop flames with a complete turbo back exhaust then? I've got a 3" dp fitted with a berk exhaust on the way. Anyone got experiences with this setup?
Through my experiences I have rarely had pops and bangs from any near standard mr2 turbo.
That goes from de-cat, exhaust, air filter, raised boost etc.
I would sometimes get a small pop when accelerating then changing gear or just lifting off, nothing really worth noting though.
If you are wanting pops then surely it would be at the expensive of power as some of the power pushing down the cylinder would be coming through the exhaust....
If You want proper pops then it is all about timing/fueling etc. through a map on a standalone ecu....
I have ignition cut on my ecu just now and if I hit the rev limiter all hell breaks loose, same as when If i use the launch control function.
My baffles collapsed in the rear silencer though so that was putting a stop to the flames but as I have just bought a new Berk exhaust I am pretty sure the car will be well capable if desired
This is just revving the car up to around 3000 revs, no flames due to the collapsed baffle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXuncUJPN_E
