Im looking to give myself a goal next year to run the quickest ct series mr2 that's been down the 1/4 mile in the UK.
Don't ask me why, but I'm kind of getting hooked on it and would like to stay with a toyota turbo for the oem factor as I don't have the luxury of a built engine.
I was possibly the quickest this year at least, unless anyone knows otherwise?
I know old school hero Mark Edwards did a 12.49 with 1.7bar on a ct26 hybrid and a fully built and tuned engine. That's the fastest I'm aware of in the UK from many years ago.
I'm not far off that at 1.2bar and a stock engine with a 12.59@112mph
I'd like to know has anyone gone quicker than Mark over here so I have a number to aim for??
With a better launch I'm sure I'll be there, but have other changes in mind over winter.

I've got a timeslip from my car supposedly running a 12.6 at Crail a few years back before I bought it. No idea if it's legit but I guess it's possible if you've pulled similar times Jim Standard Rev 3 engine with bolt-ons, CT20.
I guess the 12.5 barrier could be broken on slicks? Or are you talking full road spec?

Interested in the slip?

Not sure where the actual slip is, I've got a really grainy photo from the original ad when I bought the car though. Which I've just spent 20 mins looking for and can't find either
I did find this though, not that it proves much
http://www.yorkdragway.org/results.pl?d ... 9;car=T332
It's in the previous owners name at least, but weird how he went from 13's to a 12.6 in the course of an afternoon
Was never sure whether to trust it - I suspected it could've been from a completely different car but now that you're trapping similar times it's convinced me that it's possible!

That looks like it says a 129mph terminal?
Am I going mad?

It does to be fair
Re: 1/4 mile Santa Pod. CT20B+Gen3 3SGTE, 12.53@114
Looks more like a 2 than a 0??
Obviously wouldn't be trapping that with a 20b.
Shame not clearer.

Either way that's a 12.68 right??
Nice time. Have you been up the strip yourself?? Is good fun.

I've been to Santa Pod a few times, never run though.
Was going to run my Scooby last year but managed to blow the gearbox the day before
I've seen some of your videos, the car shifts!!

I think out of everybody that could answer this question, you would be the one that could answer it best, being a regular since 2004 and before, I know where you are coming from though

Is it quite heavy on the wear and tear with street tyres? I'm talking clutches, driveshafts, CV joints, etc.

I've tried my best to search it on the forums, but not everyone uses the regular forums (or even any forum) so wondered if anyone had any data I wasn't aware of.

Cv's either hold or they don't
In terms of clutch, it's only really the launch that gets some abuse
Tyre wear. Not at all unless you choose to do a burnout.

I did wonder what the Astra was running as the car was trailered.
initially looks like a 13.7, but not sure???
Yeh that was one of my 12.7 runs.

Leave the burnouts to the munters in the drift missles. All the MR2 needs is a quick rev dump to clear the tyres of any debris you may have picked up from the return road and pit area.
