I'm facing a major problem here, I'm taking the car around europe on friday morning, and I've just had coilovers fitted, however im 99% sure the camber is wrong on them as the wheels are out of allignment..
I dont want to take it back to the garage I got them done at as they are clearly incapable of doing them right in the first place..
Is there anybody local to Wigan / Manchester who has knowledge of these can help me out? or atleast direct me to a garage?
Thanks

Got any pics for reference mate .

Ok, so drivers side looks fine, my wheels have always protruded a little bit on the fronts and rear, you can see here :
but on the passenger side, you can see that the front wheel is protruding way more, and the rear wheel is not protruding, im guessing the rear has negative camber ( minimal ) and the front has quite a bit of positive camber and is making the top of the wheel protrude a lot.. photos here :
you can see from this view below, the wheels look a little wonky because of this :

Doesn't look right.
What coilovers are they? Does it track in a straight line when you drive it?

Its hard to tell from the pics but it looks like your rear wheels are turning in and front are turning out
Re: Just had coilovers fitted, pretty sure they're wrong.
Go and get a four wheel alignment. Micheldever tyre station can do this

Just needs aligment. Probably be looking around £100 but it will make a huge difference as you'll have a lot more adjustment now.
Re: Just had coilovers fitted, pretty sure they're wrong.
Stupid question - have you checked the garage haven't put your rear wheel on the front and visa versa on one side? It would certainly explain the sudden change in poke!

Could well be the issue.shinny wrote:Stupid question - have you checked the garage haven't put your rear wheel on the front and visa versa on one side? It would certainly explain the sudden change in poke!

Don't take it to any random garage just because they have a fancy laser alignment system. Still needs a competent operator for it to be any good - found that out first hand.
We've got better results at Stu's using fishing line and a trackace total toe gauge!
Re: Just had coilovers fitted, pretty sure they're wrong.
Have you also checked that they haven't added a spacer to the front wheels to likely overcome the clash with the coilover spring that sits way lower than stock struts?
That would be my bet. Getting wheels with the right offset is absolutely critical for coilover fitment.

Re: Just had coilovers fitted, pretty sure they're wrong.
I'd be annoyed if they added spacers without telling me.

I think mr Libertine has license to be annoyed regardless!
On the other hand perhaps some more foresight with regards to contingency / timing next time.... Major suspension overhaul before road trip? Oops.
I hope you get it sorted out in time. And I hope you like the coilovers too!!

Looks like Mr Gidden has saved the day....
I've had my share of supposedly competent garages who don't have a f***ing clue what they're doing.

What was it then Red? I'm dying to know
Re: Just had coilovers fitted, pretty sure they're wrong.
Back from Sbits, I'll give you the short version and if peter happens to see this and wants to provide a more in-depth analysis, he is welcome too..
Basically, the garage that fitted my coilovers made a big balls of them, didnt even screw all bolts back on, camber was wrong on 3 wheels, ride height was different on all 4 sides.
Alignment was also badly out of place all around, and this was sorted too.
It was very bad timing, basically, my rear suspension went to xxxx 8-9 days ago, I got some coilovers ASAP, ut the garage took too long to fit them ( 3 days ) and basically put me in a bad spot.. Holiday has had to be postponed for 3 more days due to them, wont use anybody else but Peter from now on.
