Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
I have got one of the body kits I got back in 1999 and thinking of fitting it to my sprint car but the rules say 20 of the cars have to have been built in one year.
Can anyone tell me if 20 were made in one year and where can I get prof?

Just a quick plug....if anyone knows of or comes across any of the other cars and it does show the serial no let me know and Ill add it to the list. :-)

Check table of known builds in link below http://trd2000gt.forumotion.com/t60-trd ... comparison
As best as I can work out there were...
Serial nos 1-15 in 1998
Serial 18-35 in 1999 (18 cars)
Serial no 37 in 2000
Serial no 39 in 2001
Tantalising close for 1999 making you 2 short but if you can find the build years of either 16 ,17 or 36 your in business if 2 of them are 1999!
Thank you Jeff
Now could I try this another way, list the car as an MR2 but fitted with a factory body kit?
Why were the cars fitted with the body parts, why did Toyota want this done or was it just TRD doing it for a bit of fun?

At the moment it runs in the production car class so it has to be as it came out of the factory.
I could run it in the limited production class as a TRD GT but 20 chassis have to be made in one year, but again it has to be as it come from the factory.
The last class it could go in is for anything that does not fit in the other classes but has a 600 hp single seater in it so no chance to win

Hey up Jeff - Number 14 was a 1998 Turbo MR2 went through Japan Auctions a couple of weeks ago but I missed it Got a few pics of it if you want also..
Cheers
Bob these still didn't come out the Toyota factory.
Owners simply went to trd who fitted them.
So really they are not a production car as such.
As you could take your 90 car or 96 car and get the kit.
These weren't cars with 0 mileage out of the factory.

This is what I am trying to understand. So not a single car was built new with the body kit fitted?
Why did TRD come up with the kit, was it anything to do with them racing the MR2?
