[Mk2] [Turbo] rev 1 turbo speedo drive removal from gearbox help please

Hi I need some technical info my speedo drive stopped so I removed the 10m bolt and pulled of the unit from gearbox and the brass type pin but I cannot see how I remove the shaft with the drive cog from gearbox the rotating center spline is there in the hole of gearbox and a piece is snapped of I tryed to tug at it hopping it would just slide out but it wont budge am I missing something or is it a case of pulling harder and is there a case outer sleeve thats just stuck in there any help would be appriciated[/b]
