Decent MK1A brakes finally - Thanks Paul (PW@Woodsport)

Post by Tiger Tim »

A big thank you, Paul, for helping me sort my brakes. I've had the MK1A for 8 years now but never had a decent brake pedal or stopping power. 2 weeks ago the master cylinder started leaking & I couldn't get a seal kit or a new MC - both discontinued by Mr T. Paul suggested getting a MK1B servo & the MC from the MR2 Mk2 rev2- non ABS. I fitted these on last Sat & what a difference, I've a fantastic brake pedal & super stopping power. It's transformed the car. A super upgrade.

Many Thanks, Paul

Tim

Paul is there a generic brake pipe you can make for those of us who change the MCs?

I don't have a pipe bender or have the means of getting my car to a garage at the moment for someone to make me some up...

What is the nominal bore of the brake pipes to the BMC?

Sorry Alex i don't really know what you mean?

I just bend the Mk1 pipes to fit onto the Mk2 MC.

Get a pipe bender Alex

This or similar are cheap & useful to have in your toolkit

You get a cutter with this one :thumleft:

With the spacer behind the Servo, The pipes almost lined up with the MC. Very little bending required. Just some pressure between thumb & forefinger. Don't tighten the Master cylinder to the Servo until you've threaded the pipe connectors into the MC first.
