Coolant

Post by elbon50 »

Toyota advertise several different coloured coolants

Red, Pink, Green and Blue (possibly others)

Blue is for the GT86 it seems

Have no information about differences in the other coloured fluids

Or which is most suitable for the 4A-GE :-k

Any ideas :?:

Thanks Lauren :thumleft:

Toyota online recommended pink

Local dealer stocks only pink but can get red for me for 46.69 gross

Red/Pink, all the same... it doesn't really matter.

The BGB says
" Use a good brand of ethylene-glycol base coolant mixed according to the manufacturer's directions"

Yes

The Comma X-stream coolant, which Halfords recommend for the Mk1 isn't called Ethylene Glycol

It's called Glysantin (a BASF trade name)

May be just another name for the same thing, but I decided not to take any chances Jimi

Can't go far wrong with Mr T's own product

I've received some today from Toyota Online at a much better price than that quoted by the local dealer

Xstream® G30® Antifreeze & Coolant Concentrate is Ethylene Glycol based

Ethylene glycol based antifreeze & coolant with OAT (Organic Additive Technology) inhibitors. Protects against corrosion, overheating and freezing. Typical service life of up to 5 years. Safeguarded with bittering agent to help prevent accidental ingestion.
