When I started my car this morning it didn't start as smoothly as usual. The car fired up but was hanging around 400rpm ish so I had to hit the accelerater to help it hit idle before it died. This was on cold start.
It started fine when I left work though.
Just made me a little paranoid that maybe the starter motor is on its way out?

Sounds like the starter motor is perfect.

Brilliant! What could be the symptoms?
Or is it just the age of the car?
The car drives perfectly.

peter was being sarcastic, the fact your car started (I.e the starter motor engaged on the flywheel and turned the engine over) indicates there are no issues with it.
a low/rough idle is likely to be IACV related, although it's impossible to diagnose problems with peoples cars based on basic descriptions given over the internet. If you're not confident diagnosing it then ask someone "in the know" to take a look or take it to a competent mechanic
