Bit cheeky, but I hope some one can help.

I saw a shop in Leicester that carried out "on the spot" alternstor repairs. I called in, took his details and logged them in my phone, My phone then did an auto upgrade and lost ALL my texts and hundreds of numbers.

I tried searching and an old post from you came up regarding a shop in Thurmaston. I THINK that may be the shop, it was basically a scruffy shop/workshop.

It would be great if someone could ientify the shop and street for me. I was working on Leicester for a short stint so have no real idea where I was. The alternator is now in my car and ready to be repaired.

Bit of a long short, but thanks for rading and in anticipation.

Here's the place I've used for the N/A and S/C alternator repairs:

C & G Auto Electrics
32 Barkbythorpe Road
Leicester LE4 9JA
0116 276 8333

you have to remove the part from the car and drop it off for repair

Thankyou all very much for the repies - I am grateful. The shop I ha seen was in fact Greens.

I visited today, with alternator in hand, I was expecting to have a long walk and coffee while waiting. However, he replaced the reguilator(?) with a new Bosch boxed part, charged £45 inc VAT witha receipt, and I was on my way in about 10 minutes. Excellent service.

Thanks again for all your help.

ps. There does not appear to be a "thanks" button

:thumleft:

Regulator and bearings have to be the 2 most common things to fail on the mk1 alternator.

I have to confess that I was being a bit cheeky posting on this forum. I came across it as I was searching for what I now know is Greens.

My actual vehicle with a dodgy alternator is a Renault Master MM van.

But if I ever buy an MR2Mk1 I will now to beware of the alaternator :thumleft:
