No oil level sensor?

Post by fred130111 »

Just wondered if anyone knows why the imports do not have a level sensor?

Did my rev 2 to rev3 na conversion and got worried when I saw the oil level light stuck on, until I realised its because there is no sensor on the sump ](*,)

The sensor is on the head. It's a pressure sensor, it doesn't measure the level. Usually by the time it comes on the big ends are ruined :(

Sorry mate don't think I explained fully

I believe the yellow oil dash light is oil level and only on the UK versions ( some sensor thing on the sump )

My UK Rev2 had one of these but the Rev 3 import doesn't have the sensor in the sump for oil level, just wondered if there is a particular reason that the imports never had an oil level sensor.

Haha well I don't think turbos had a level sensor either, just seems strange to me why it was left out

I think all UK NA's have the level sensor.

Imports don't, both NA and Turbo

Just wondered why, seems a pretty random thing to remove  Maybe they figured people in the UK would not bother checking the dipstick regularly

Not 100% sure to be honest but all the ones I have seen and checked recently don't appear to have one.
