MOT Failure MK2 - parts and advice needed!

Post by munter »

Hi,

Been a while since I posted here!

My MR2 SC just failed on a few points. The main one being the strut inserts are leaking. I have coilovers of an unknown origin and had considered going back to stock (with lowered springs) so now seems like a good time!

I can source the complete strut, spring, insert, top mount from the usual breakers but the price is rather OTT. Would be great if someone here has some spares. It's the MK1b struts and I need them asap for MOT retest in 10 days.

I know Knoni inserts are well regarded and I might upgrade to those in future but for the moment what springs would be recommended? Apex and PI seem to be the ones easily available. How about the Konis are they good with Koni inserts?

Many thanks
P

Have you made contact with Chris (Oukie) or Jimi ? Paul

They may have the parts you need & live close enough for you to go & pick them up this weekend :-k

Time being of the essence

Thanks Peter.

I managed to get the struts from one of the breakers for £80 all in which I feel is a fair price (assuming they are the right ones and in good condition).

Just weighing up either Apex or Fensport springs. It sounds like they will both do the job well so not sure the extra £50 or so for the Fensport ones is justified.

Will add Koni dampners if I keep the car at a later date.

Cheers

I have Whiteline springs on mine & they're no longer available

So can't help much with choice

Have been told that Apex are very good
