i just bought a full rev 3 turbo engine gasket kit, genuine toyota for about £155. from toyota (had my discount on it)

but when you break it down, thats a bargain.

what are you going to do for the rest of the gaskets now?

edit.. just read.. you have them already

I already have the rest of the gaskets, bought them from peter about 2 years ago, still sat in the packaging :thumleft:

to be honest I'll only really need the exhaust manifold gasket as I'll be using a different turbo than OEM :-k

Try getting a quote from Steve Manley ([email protected]), I always use him as he gives me the best prices, tell him Nic with the MR2 recommended him.

Na, Hurley only use good parts, according to reviews etc these can handle higher temps than OEM and take more "abuse". :thumleft:

As above :thumleft:

Just because something's OEM doesn't mean it's better than a cheaper alternative.

Couldnt have put it better myself.

Perfect example, fuel pump for an 200sx (s13), I was going to be £232 plus vat (at the time) from Nissan, or a walbro for £90 :thumleft:

I've never heard of any Walbro's that have done 100k+ miles like stock fuel pumps. Heard of more failures of Walbro's than I have them outlasting OEM pumps.

Admittedly some OEM stuff is a bit expensive but I'm happy to pay a reasonable premium for all the R&D that goes into OEM parts.

The s13 had done 69k. Pump was knackered.

I never said they were, but an OEM pump cannot provide the fuel for my build so the point is moot anyway. As for the valve stem seals, supertech seem pretty highly regarded :thumleft:

I have a wallbro and its fine. Who cares if its not oem.... if they were that bad then surely they wouldnt still be selling them after all this time.

Supertech stem seals are fine. Why waste all that money on oem if something that fits the bill fine is a fraction of the cost

Yeah. If your anal about oem parts only on your car then fair enough but there is plenty aftermarket parts that are better than oem.

do we use oem brakes round tracks? Oem pistons in our high power builds?

wonder how much OEM suspension parts are new, or calipers etc, surely not far off the price of upgraded parts :-k
