I'd stick with 10-40 personally
Re: IS MILLERS 10W60 OIL OK FOR 100000+ MILES UK N/A
well the reason the millers was i was getting a bit of black smoke under load
?
?
Re: IS MILLERS 10W60 OIL OK FOR 100000+ MILES UK N/A
black smoke is fuel, not oil... oil is blue.
but yeah, 10w60 is not the right oil for you as ashley said use a decent 10w40

Dont bother with the HKS filter either, Just use a toyota or pattern part and save the money

Millers is very good oil 10w60 the best in my books but is used for highly tune or race cars which have extreme enviroments... not design for road use really but still is ok.
10w40 or 10w50 would but correct choice for fast road use.
I believe the 10w stands for thickness and the 60 stands for max temperture range before oil breaks down and turns into black tar sludge stuff... i think?

Both figures relate to the oil's viscosity at different temperatures:

You could go for millers 10w/40, i would recommend using miller nano expensive but worth it.

Toyota filter will be fine, as will hks/k&n/blitz etc and "premium" non Oem parts. Really cheap filters will be made from poor quality materials and have less pleats (I.e less surface area for filtration)
But, tbh, we're not talking about thoroughbred race engines here, so frequency of changes is more important than using the newest micro nano super oils. Realistically the cheapest fully synth you can get today is still going to be a fair bit better than the razzle dazzle oils from 20 years ago.
Also worth pointing out that modern oils are formulate to be thin (less drag - better mpg) for new engines with tight tolerances, and to be friendly to cats/emissions primarily, so an older/cheaper oil may well have better lubrication properties for your engine.

i agree nothing beats regular oil and filter changes... and yes newer engines thinner oil all true. this is what all the lab geeks results say.
millers is what i use... but yes exspensive but i dont mind neither sheepy
