Quietest aftermarket backbox available? (Rev3 turbo)

Post by timmy2take »

I've got the Berk twin exhaust on mine at the moment, and sometimes I have to leave work early and I live in quite a narrow road and think the car is pretty offensive. (I've set off 3 car alarms driving slowly past them recently!)

I would just stick a couple of exhaust bungs in them but the exhaust tip bits are to short as the bungs I've found are 7" long.

Sorry to state obvious, can you not cut down the bungs if they are too long?

Same I have a Legalis R, sounds good but it's getting swapped out...a little too quiet for me however its not silent...like tmus said, it's quite a deep tone.

This tread seems like a weird disconnect to me, surely if you don't want loud get OEM :-k

Like ordering chilli then complainting it's hot or have I got this wrong?

You can have flow and low noise, you just have to go custom to ensure you're not buying something which hasn't already spat out its muffler packing.

I have always had std exhaust. A friend had a fujitsubo that was ok and eventually replaced it with a mongoose. It seemed to be a chav magnet for a while.
That mongoose is noticeably louder inside the car at a variety of speeds and seems to increase my travel fatigue. Not sure what long term effect it would have on my hearing.
The mongoose is also noticeably louder than standard outside at low speeds - I don't need a doorbell when that friend arrives!

If I bought a car with a loud exhaust I would put it back to standard to reduce my fatigue level as I need to do lots of miles.

I've just spotted a Legalis R on eBay going cheap. I could never find one when I wanted one!

Needs a b pipe/flexi though, add £180-£200 to the price for getting one made up to complete the exhaust.

oops  Should have gone to specsavers! I just read, pipe missing. #-o

In that case, I'd be asking for pictures of the b pipe, as it could have a knackered flexi section. If it's good, then that's a bargain Legalis.
