[All] [Generic] MOT & Interior

Post by Shmed »

How much interior do you actually need for an MOT?

I've downloaded the MOT regs and can't seem to see anything specific.

I'm thinking about fully stripping the interior and building a custom dash with only the essentials for MOT/Racing.

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

You don't need any interior as long as you have the required instruments, switches and controls still :thumleft:

Yes, needs a fan from what I have read, doesn't need to heat though :thumleft: .

Might try a bunch of PC fans :-k

I don't think a demister is an MOT requirement if it's not there at all...at least my first track car never got picked up for not having one.

Academic though, cos you really want a screen fan of some description anyway! Steer clear of PC fans though...too heavy.

I think there's a new reg about having to have adjustable seats isn't there...this is the one that might catch me out, I'm solid mounting mine with no runners...might just keep the stock ones as spare for MOT time :-k

MOT tester at work has confirmed that the seat has to be adjustable in 3 different locations. He also said that he never really checks the operation of the seat.

My seats adjust so am ok there. Are you serious about PC fans being too heavy? They hardly weigh anything?

I think we may be thinking of different things, I'm only thinking of the small case fans. They might be too small to be honest though.
