Although i didn't suffer any fade, on reflection i didn't have the feel i want from drilled/grooved discs, and (i assume until i take them off) unknown fast road pads front.....and standard rears.
Ideally i'd have stuck with standard discs, but i'll stick with what i've got for now.
On a previous i car i've loved mintex m1155 pads, so am tempted by them, but wondering what you lot use?
Oh, and do you stick with standard rear, or is it best to do all four?

Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
A lot of people run Poterfield pads, however aren't cheap.
A very popular pad to run is the Ferodo DS2500 but they don't seem to make them in MR2 fitment.
When it comes to the time to buy mine, i think i'll be buying a set of Chris Wilson pads.
A friend was using some Project Mu pads which he didn't really rate that well.
You'll want to do the same to the rear as you do on the front. The MR2 rear brakes do a lot more work than non midship cars.

I use mine in competition and track days
Using yellow stuff pads and braided lines with 5.1 fluid
Last very well have no fade in the last 6 months I've used them..
That's using standard discs

Never heard of any of those, except the Ferodo obv.

Sounds like not a bad 'low' cost option.....whats the pedal feel like?
Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
I found drilled and grooved discs poor. They didn't really improve braking, but the extra edges allowed corrosion to take hold much faster. The set I had lasted 2, maybe 3 years. Now back on standard discs but with carbotech pads. Which are awesome
Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
drilled and grooved discs are only good for bedding in new pads quickly.
I have had good experience of Mintexx 1155/1144, ferrodo 2250, and Hawk pads.
I also once tried project mu and dont rate them for track.
never really been keen on ebc either - any of them.

Some say EBC are much improved over what they used to be - it would be interesting to try something else though.
Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
We use Carbotech XP8 on all of our race cars.
Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
Yeah, i with you all on the drilled and grooved discs, i'd prefer more surface area of a standard disc, but budget won't allow a change for a while.
I had some of the first greenstuff on a road car way back and they were awful, but heard much better things since then...the cost makes them appeal over the other pricier (though quite possibly better) stuff mentioned.

Well I push my car hard
Last outing I'm my na was lapping quicker than some of the gt4s
On track never had any fade and was out for long stints round Blyton
Got Silverstone next month don't intend on doing anything to them beforehand

I've had some bad experience with ebc stuf in the past. But I recon if Pete finds em ok they probably are!
Maybe i'll give em a go once i've gone through my xp8s
What are the yellowstuff like on the street? I found the xp8 do need a bit of heat in em to work realy well. Also I bet the yellowstuff dont dust up anywhere near as much as the carbotech.
Also I dont think youll have problems with braking at silverstone, surely all the long straights will be enough to keep the brakes cool!
Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
I ran yellowstuff pads and braided lines on my SC - never experienced any fade on road or track (even going down the Pyrenees when people behind me could smell my brakes!)
They needed an initial shove in the mornings to get some heat in them, but once done they were great for everyday road use. I didn't notice any additional dust over standard pads

I see dust on mine but most decent pads do..
I don't use mine on road now but when I did I never had issues.
Mine work good straight from cold to be fair

I use Carbotech pads on my turbo track car, very pleased with them
Re: What pads do you n/a track goers use?
Drop Chris Wilson ([email protected]) an email his fast road pads are very good for road and track day use and are not silly money, he also does specific race pad compounds made to order.
