Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Do the small wind deflectors mounted on the front wheel arch make any noticeable difference?
Does anyone have a photo of how they are mounted, do they just bolt to the wheel arch liner?
unless you have rev5 arch liners, you need to drill/screw into them, some even recommend making a plate to sit behind the liner to support them as they are going to get quite a bit of force against them.
I've just fitted new wheel arch liners on the front, stupidly I should have ordered the rev5 ones. The car had the wind deflectors fitted before with 2 small angle brackets and holes drilled into the old liners, I'm just considering whether I should refit them or leave them off. If they do make a noticeable difference to front end lift then I'll make some new brackets and refit them.
id be interested to see pics of your setup? as im sure others would as well for a DIY effort.
i wanted to fit some for a while, just havent go around to it.
toyota saw to fit them as well as the rev5 spoiler, so i assume they do have benefits otherwise why go to the bother.
I've seen a good few modern cars with the same setup.
From what I've read, it's to slow down/re-direct incoming air away from the front of the tyres which can cause vibration at speed
