Possible to buy new catalytic converter? (Rev3 turbo)

Post by Goto10 »

I can no longer get the old girl through the MOT (It passes Lambda/HC tests without a cat, but the CO is way too high) - anyone know where to buy a genuine/non-genuine cat from? New or secondhand would be fine.

Are there aftermarket high-flow variants available?
Would Toyota be able to source an OEM one, if so anyone have a part number?

Thanks in advance...

For a tubby to not pass a sniff test thats quite week  maybe try edd china's terror clean before jumping to cat refitting .
You can by sard style high flow cats on ebay i'm going to try one on my st205 .

Shouldn't rev3's have cats fitted anyway 8-[

I had bought a downpipe off GTSChris approx 10 years ago and had it fitted to my car. I got a company to fit a 120 cells per square inch sports cat into it . Cost £180 for CAT and fitting last year. You can see it in my garage pictures. Dont know where you are based but for anyone else in my area the company is AAS based near Newburn, Tyne & Wear.

Thanks, it looks a bit sorry for itself these days though, needs some TLC on the paintwork!
It should have one, I had it decatted about ten years ago - I've moved house three times since then and the original cat is long gone. It used to get through by using secret handshakes/nods/winks/cash, but that option's no longer available, so it needs to pass properly :/
Do you have a link to one of the eBay high flow ones?

Interesting, looks like a good option - where did you get the sport cat from? Hayward and Scott are local to me (it has one of their systems on it) so I could go down there and see if they'll do something similar...

200 cell .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-76mm-Magnaf ... 418646d934

300 cell .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-STA ... 5d3550f44e

Just search 200, 300 or 400 cell catalytic converter and look for the pipe size you need :thumleft:

Does your car pass the emissions test easily with a 120 cell cat or is it a borderline pass? I'm assuming the fewer the cell-per-sq.inch density, the higher the flow. Is 200 a good compromise of flow/catalyst performance?

If you arent completely averse to e-bay parts there is a knockoff version of the sard catted downpipe. Put one on my old motor when I got fedup of arguing technicalities with various mot testers.

Or you could buy the genuine sard verison if you dont mind paying about 700 quid or so.
