Rear engine cover air scoop that sits above the roof?

Post by BALDYMONSTER »

I see these on the air filter side and sometimes both sides.

Is there much if any benefit of these at all.

Peter's reply in post #2 would suggest not.

That said, it's your car and if you like the look of them go for it.

tom's scoops, the n/s was designed to work with the tom's airbox so if no tom's airbox no benefit. ive no idea how much of a gain the tom's airbox gave. so in reality there decorative I prefer the bomex scoops so have 2 of them fitted

The air flow through the engine bay is designed to be from the side vents upwards & exiting the vents in the engine cover, introducing another airflow in the opposite direction will have a negative effect. you'll slow the intake rate at the side vents. If you baffle around whatever induction filter you are running & isolate it from the engine bay air you may benefit a NA car but I can't see it making any difference to a turbo.

I can see a tsunami of rain getting down them so don't forget to allow drainage....
