The drivers door lock started to intermittently not work. It felt like the motor in the door which opens and closes the mech couldn't make enough torque to move the rod the full distance.
If I give it a little help by gently pulling or pushing it works but won't under its own steam.
Door panel off and everything greased.
Anyone have a link on how to remove and refit a door lock motor.
Any other suggestions on what could be the cause.
In picture below, the motor is housed inside the door skin

Did you manage to change the motor, if so did it cure the problem?
Got the same issue with my driver lock.

Not took it off yet.
I'll take it off over the weekend and have a look. I'm pretty sure it's the motor. It may be able to be salvaged.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Drivers door lock fault
I'm having the same issue on the passenger side and it's now at the point where it's sticks quite bad when I try to operate it manually.
Keep us updated buddy, if your refurb works then at least I can look for a replacement motor. knowing that that's the issue.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Drivers door lock fault
Does yours still lock ok with the central locking?
If it does, take the door card off and give the mechanism a lube, you'll probably get another 10years out of it.
My mechanism went from really stiff to smooth when I lubed it up but my motor is also goosed. I wonder if it was a stiff mechanism that caused the motor to eventually fail. Looks like a pain in the ass to unclip all the plastic connectors for the rods

No Dazzz, it doesn't even open on the key. I can only open the door if I manually move the lock from the inside.

Ok. Your in the same boat as me then. Soon it won't lock. I can lock mine now using the manual lever but not anything else.
I'll let you know once I've removed it.
