[Mk2] [Generic] braided brake lines? what to get?

Post by jimGTS »

this subject is new to me, but having just recently found some old grooved discs in decent condition in the garage id like to use (came from my old imported rev5 turbo), i thought now would be a good time to clean and paint the calipers (colour suggestions on a azure blue car??), paint/protect the discs, clean/paint the backing plate and upgrade the oem brake lines (to use with my yellowstuff pads).

i hear people mention either HEL, goodridge or the rogue kit.

the rogue kit interests me due to the whole package and appears cheaper than the goodridge?

thoughts?

AFAIK only the Goodridge and Rogue brake lines have the correct 2 bolt bracket on the rear brake lines (see pic below). I'm using the Rogue brake lines on mine they are very good quality.

OEM rubber, good enough for 100percent of us :clown:

however, I can confirm the HEL kit does NOT have the brackets the OEM kit and Goodridge have, as I discovered when i bought the HEL kit to replace my rusted through Goodridge kit.

I've had both the Rogue (made by Exact) and the Goodridge lines, and both are great quality and perfect fit. The only reason I swapped to Goodridge was because they do fully stainless kits (more expensive) which won't rust, the plated kit I had from Rogue looked pretty manky after a couple of years of all season motoring.

What about Aeroquip? Black diamond? Both stainless and both very good.

Do they come with the MR2 specific brackets?

I'm using a second hand set of Goodridge. But do get, as said, the stainless end fittings.
