Post by gerbil1028 »

Just about to fit my electronic boost controller before engine goes in as assume it will be easier.

Can people post pictures of where their solenoid is located and why

Cheers.

Firewall, N/S.

Mounted off engine, not hot location, but close enough to keep vac. hoses less than 18" long.

Ok found two options.

Firstly a random nut on n/s firewall in squidgy padding, can make a bracket and Mount there.

Second option was a mounting bolt on fire wall for old X brace as now have a ali brace instead.

Thoughts.

I mounted mine on the bolt holes from the charcoal canister, as it had been removed

iirr , the hks kit had one filter from the manifold to the map sensor and one from the boost source to to the solenoid.
I have had many boost controllers in the past with no filters fitted and no problems :thumleft:

You really need some dampening on there.
Some solenoids even come with a rubber spacer to avoid crazy vibrations from the engine.

will it really suffer engine vibration as its on fire wall not engine ?

bracket has an amount of flex in it

but thoughts taken on board as this is my first electronic boost controller install

Your probably fine.

But to add to it.

Just cut up some vac hose for between the bracket and solenoid (over the bolt holes so bolts slide through them).
