Post by Jonny4494 »

hi guys, just wondering what you all think of hydrodipping car parts?

i was thinking of getting my spoiler, alloys, wing mirrors and the plastic dash surrounds hydrodipped with this pattern

Seen a carbon print applied to a set if alloys, looked ok after a coat of lacquer. How much dies it cost?

If you take a look at l1ca's build thread, he's done some to his dash plastics. Looks pretty good :thumleft:

It nearly all comes down to the quality of who's doing it, ive got all the dash plastics on mine done and a couple of bits on my bike in carbon fibre, the bike bits and bigger panels are good but some of the smaller bits aren't for example the ashtray lid isn't great due to its ahape it's distorted the pattern. I paid £180 for all my bits to be done

I just saw it as a nice way to make my car unique really. But trying to stick with the blue/black theme as I go.

What are they like for cleaning? As I was some exterior parts doing, do they stand up to a wash & wax?
How long would they last for?
Is there anyway to maintain them properly?

here's a few pictures of the interior bits i had done,

the parts are laquered after the transfer is applied so they survive quite well and are no different to look after to any other paintwork

in total it cost me £180, besides those bits i had the door handles and switchgear on a mk4 golf sprayed piano black and the airtubes off my bike dipped,

the place had to remove sand and fill the indicator mounts on the airtubes too. they had quoted £90 for the airtubes on there own so somewhere around £90 for the dash bits and golf bits

they were done in a couple of days, they could probably do them in a day if you booked it in and gave them enough notice

Sounds good to me! Might just get my interior bits done first, because the spoiler has a big crack in it, needs fixing first before dipping, suppose I could get the wing mirrors done at the same time though

They'd be able to repair the spoiler for you, the company's part of a bodyshop
