Service List

Post by androo007 »

Hi Chaps,

After having a Rev 3 turbo that I had to sell sadly.... a change in life circumstances / work means that I've been able to get myself another MR2! (yessssssss) - easily the best car I've had since the 350z (i actually prefer it!).

Its completely standard, never had an engine mod on it, and thats just what I was after.

As its been used as a weekend car for the last 8 years or so, its in need of servicing - so please could yuo guys advise me where is best to buy the following, (Toyota Main Stealers, trusted Patten part etc) ?

I've just changed the oil with a Toyota Filter and 5w-40 oil so should be good for the next 3k. (hope thats the right grade!)

Here's whats on my list:

* Spark Plugs (Which ones do i need? BKR7's?)
* Air Filter
* Brake Fluid
* Coolant (Which one should it be?)
* Gearbox oil
* Dizzy cap (what is that? Never had a car with one)
* HT Leads (If cheap enough)
* Drop Links all around

Any other recommended items?

Also, I've not come across a service schedule at all - is there one around?

Lastly - I've read up that Rev 3's are OK to have the BOV release to atmosphere, I dont really want to change the stock BOV, but read that its a popular mod with you guys to change the stock one? Is it safe, and if so please could you tell me (in dummy form) how to do it? Just interested :)

Thanks

You'll need a Dizzy and a Rotor..

the rotor spins inside the dizzy dealing the power out to each of the spark plugs.

:thumleft:

Yes vent to atmospehere is fine on a Rev3..

and the oil is fine.

Are they best Toyota Main Stealer sourced?

How do I modify the Stock one to do that?

I wouldn't really modify the stock one. I'd get a propper atmospheric dump valve..

but you could just take the return hose from the rear of the dump valve to the intake off and plug the intake..

Don't recommend this because it will be loud and won't sound very nice. aftermarket dump valves tend to have fins that make the noise nicer. :thumleft:

Ah, fair enough - I'll leave it as it is then. I'd read it was a forum popular mod to do, but i think i'll leave it as it was meant to be. Thanks!

http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/

Should be able to find most of what you need here.. Fantastic service and very knowledgeable

They do a lot of genuine parts at cheaper than toyota prices.

Failing that go to Toyota.

Add fuel filter: it's the usually forgotten service item.
