I'm off to look at a rev 3 Turbo near me, but it's a 93 L reg. Isn't that a rev 2? It'd got the rounded rear lights, but other than that, how can I tell visually??
Sorry for such a dim question, I know the mechanical differences, but not the visual! What should I be looking for??
Thanks in advance!

Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?
1993 could be a rev3 turbo. From memory rev3's came out in Nov 1993.
Chassis number is the best way to tell.
If you know what a rev3 turbo engine looks like, then other items are as follows:
colour coded front bumper lip
colour coded bump strips
later round rear lights and center panel
single piece rear spoiler
bronze tinted glass
Chassis number is the best way to tell.

Perfect, thanks very much guys
Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?
There are plenty of L-reg rev3 turbos out there, mine included
Looking in the engine bay is a very good way of telling. Spoiler and rear lights can be changed so, ultimately, VIN code is the only real way to tell.

Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?
Mine would be an L reg if it wasn't on a private plate. Rev3 started in Nov 93 and L reg started in Aug 93.
No 2
Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?
My car is an L plate but 1994 on the log book
Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?

Not to mention my L reg rev2 turbo - first registered in August 93 but currently wearing a J registration mark. Last rev 2 chassis number was I believe JT163SW2000087385
Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?
Thanks guys! I've looked high and low but can't see the recommended oil for rev 3 turbo, it's completely standard. Any ideas?

I'd go with any decent 5w40 fully synthetic and make sure you change it every 4000 miles.

+1

6,000... 4,000... 3,000... I hear a few different service intervals thrown around by owners. Fresh oil is good, but I wouldn't get overly concerned about an exact figure. Your car's not going to blow up if you miss the 4000 miles suggested above.
Re: L reg rev 3 Turbo?
Thanks so much guys you're a great bunch over here!
Changed the oil with toyota filter and 5w-40 fully synthetic, but the engine e seems to be much noisier (ie ticky)
Would a 10w based oil give any further help
