Hi
It's a bit difficult to make out whether it's the CAT or back box from the photos, I think it's the CAT pipe but just to be sure which of the parts in the diagram is it?
Part 17400 is the CAT pipe
Part 17430 is the back box http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i131/ ... 1398846062
It's where the cat should be but tbh it doesn't look like a cat to me. I'll get some better pics tonight, I thought it might be a middle box(if toyota ever used a middle box on these cars)
This looks like the exhaust I had on my rev1 na I think. If so it's non cat, I believe that's a resonator box to keep the noise down.
Mine perished between the back box and the resonator. I could not find a good replacement anywhere so I replaced with a non cat blueflame.
Hope this helps because when I queried this some months back nobody could give me a good answer.
I believe Pre '92 cars are cat exampt for mots also
If it's an import Japan's emissions standards weren't tightened until the early 00's so it may be de-cat. Most cats I've ever seen are slightly ribbed and more oval(ish) shaped.
Just trying to think outside the box until somebody comes up with something better.
I think the problem is so few enthusiasts now have totally original cars, the exhaust is usually the first thing to go either for mechanical or cosmetic reasons.
