[Mk2] [Generic] Tein EDFC motors - Removal

Post by Scott Barton »

Had a quick look this afternoon, need to remove them so I can remove strut brace to give it a clean.
Do they simply unscrew? I think i read somewhere that loctite could of been used somewhere, so am thinking big rag, adjustable spanner...and some elbow grease.

Am i going to break something?

Can you not disconnect the wire? There should be a male/female connection no more than 12 inches away.

Disconnect then remove the brace upwards clearing the cable like a game of operation :D

I had to do mine a while ago,
from what i remember ,
peel back the rubber gator
spray wd40 liberally
and then just wrestle with them untill the threadlock is broken
forward and back gently,
sorry but i cant remember if we had to hold the damper tight to allow movement.
What i do remember is that i had to make some wire holders to hold the wiring up in the right position when they were refitted

Is it a normal right handed thread?

Cheers bud. I gave it a go last night...they are on tight. Might just unplug them as above. I was planning on cleaning underneath as a bit of crud had accumulated....
Rogue installed mine a few years ago so if it comes to it will give them a buzz. :thumleft:
