Nimz's White Rev 2 NA

Post by nimz »

Hi all,

Big day today, picked up my first mr2 :) Been a Toyota fan for a while, owned 3 Celicas before this (2 gen 6 GTs and a Gen 7 T-sport) but after 3 years without a car I decided a change was in order.

So, went to see this beauty which was owned by JD on here, it was in fantastic condition and after a long 2 weeks, I hopped back on the train to pick her up. JD really has done a great job keeping her in top condition and I hope to continue to do the same.

Few quick pics taken after getting her home which Photobucket appears to have compressed so apologies for quality:

The car really isn't wanting for much but I've already been browsing the sale threads to add my own touch. In a feat of great timing, about an hour after I got her home these turned up on my front door:

And in the car:

Anyway, that's probably too many pics but just wanted to say hi and glad to be part of the club :) I'll leave you with one more:

It looks very clean and well loved, I approve
Any shots of the engine bay?
What plans have you got for her?

Thanks Karl :) No shots of the engine bay yet, was losing the light when I went out to snap those but will get a couple when I can.

As for plans I just want to do a few little bits while I get used to her - colour coded sills, front splitter & rub strips before maybe a suspension upgrade and white alloys :) Though I'm sure this place will start giving me ideas above my station :p

Looks in very good condition. I doubt it will stay in that good condition as you're living in London and only have on street parking. No one in London seems to know how to parallel park..

As said that's a very nice original looking car. Think twice about modding it. If you do mod I started from a very similar base. Standard white UK rev 1 t-bar with silver strips with just alloys already changed. Likewise I've painted sills etc to make it look lower, modded all the suspension and then just done some other stuff gradually over the years. Loads of pics of how it looks now in my garage. I love it but still enjoy a nice original car... especially one so clean and white.
Welcome to ownership and to the forum. Enjoy both, they're great cars.

Thanks for the welcome guys. The more I look at her the more I think there is less I would do, they really do look fantastic out of the box :) Just going to enjoy driving it for now though.

I miss this car already but I'm glad she's being used now rather than sitting about too much.

Been far too long since I've posted in here but now that the sun has come out to play I've managed to snap a couple of updated pics. Despite the on street pics again she definitely does get driven, just need to find a new photoshoot location :)

Sooo, changes, first up, the big one, new wheels! I was after the 16" Buddyclub p1's that popped up on here but couldn't justify the cost due to the car needing a new clutch soon. However, these 15" Enkei's were going for a bargain on Ebay so I couldn't resist. Swapped the Toyos over from the standard wheels as they still have plenty of meat left on them and here we are:

Would like to get it lowered when funds allow, but the clutch has to come first :( And the other change, also a wheel, this time of the steering kind. OMP WRC, slight dish, black leather, red stitching, lovely feel:

Aaanndd that's about it, for now :)

Thanks very much guys :) JD - every MR2 owner I've met so far has commented on how clean she is, you certainly took care of her.

Took a slightly damp trip up the M1 to see Luke at Pacific Works today to get a new clutch fitted, great guy who really knows his stuff. Also nice to meet a couple of other MR2 fans - sorry that I didn't catch any forum names. The Exedy clutch has completely transformed the car, so much lighter, far more positive bite and doesn't judder every time I pull away, happy days \:D/

Now I need to go for a proper drive and find somewhere decent to take a few photos, the roadside vista is getting a bit boring.
