Hi all,
well 6 or so years ago i sold my rev2 tubby, car was forged with uprated ct26 fully polly bushed and many many other bits. car stood me at 6k sold for 3250
Aim was to get a deposit for a house and grow up a little, sadly the then famous RECESSION hit and the bank withdrew the mortgage offer. So left gutted that I had sold my pride and joy for no reason.
It did start a 5 year obsession to find her again though, this took me through many searches, Dvla, Electorial Role and some other ..... less correct methods lol
When i sold her
and how i found her
She was missing the gearbox and the forged and sleeved engine as current owner had blown it up many years prior.
Despite these minor details I handed over 1000 as quick as I could to secure MY car back. I did get back my CT26 hybrid, Mongoose exhaust minus B pipe and a surprise set of coilovers.
Quick wash to get off some of the 5 years of sitting neglect
starting to look over car and found few things didnt work like plasma dials I imported previously. luckily just disconnected so resoldered
and then there was life
noticed this
fuse later and working lost pic sorry
car now tucked up in bed
awaiting its rev3 engine and box from Sbits fantastic service and help through this so far highly recommend
more updates to come

I can imagine it's really sad to see your old car in such a state after you put so much effort into it.
Glad you got it back though and good luck restoring her to her former glory!

I bought back an old car that I regretted selling. Within the last year of selling it ,it had gone through about 5 owners. It had been well abused and it just never felt the same. I didn't keep it long.
I hope you have better luck than what I did.
Looks a lovely motor and similar to mine. Not far from me either so must have a meet up when your up & running.

Thats about how I found my 2, though mine was sat on bricks covered in racing stickers and full up with crap and a blown engine.

I can understand your sentiment. Weirdly, a couple of months back my old MR2 appeared on here, it had been given an engine transplant and lots of fun on a track, and then the guy stripped it and the final picture was seeing it get lifted at the scrappers. But funnily enough it was nice to know where it went and that someone had some fun in it after all my daily driving in it! Closure haha! Was just an FE shell anyway but it makes me think I will NEVER sell my Turbo. I`d cry if I saw it scrapped now! Owned it since I was 23 and I`m 30 now.
Great to see you rescue this, I do hope you get the new engine and gearbox in pronto and get out and have some fun! Keep the pictures coming!

mongoose middle with new flexi
less smashes on the head
silver theme starts
New Ignitor and Coil
Intercooler surround
Uprated intercooler fixed and fitted, with rubber washers to give some flex to avoid future mount cracking. insulation foam between each part to avoid rattles
Apexi filter with a touch of silver lol
Amp fitted behind seat
Heat sheild wouldnt match in red so guess what ......
And fitted
new stainless cancer bars I had made up

Looking good. Keep up the good work!
Re: rebuild rev3 swap after 5 year search to buy my old car back J615
That intercooler shroud is doing more harm than good.. blocking off flow through a lot of the core... theres a reason the GTSchris ones are spaced off the core, this allows full flow through the core, as well as directing it through the fan.
Otherwise good work..

Rob85 Interesting point could make up some spacers. Although draught foam does hold it off a bit.

nowhere near enough for efficient flow.. ideally you should remake it in the same way as the gtschris ones, with a good 15mm or so air gap between the core and the backing plate..
infact, if I could be bothered to make one from scratch I'd make the gap even bigger

Surely when this is bolted up it will sit fairly flush too on the inside.
no, the gap is there to allow air through the whole core and then through the fan hole, you have a plate a few mm off the core essentially turning your functional area of yout ic into a small circle.

So spacers wouldn't help either.
